Making Menstrual Health More Inclusive in Kavre: 39 Women and Girls Reached

In Kavrepalanchok, Conscious Connections Nepal (CCN) partnered with Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) to make menstrual health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information more accessible to women and girls with disabilities. The program worked across Banepa, Dulikhel, Panchkhal, Namobuddha, and Panauti, combining health orientation, reusable pad-making, and local advocacy.
Challenges:
Women and girls with disabilities can face additional barriers to health information, communication, mobility, and access to services. Their needs are often overlooked in conversations and planning around menstrual health.
Our Action:
CCN and NDWA conducted a 2-day menstrual health and SRHR orientation, followed by reusable cloth pad-making training. The program also carried out advocacy in five municipalities, engaging local government representatives on disability-inclusive menstrual health services and the importance of involving persons with disabilities in decisions that affect them. A total of 100 hygiene kits were distributed.
The lasting Impact:
-
39 women and girls with disabilities received menstrual health orientation and reusable pad-making training.
-
100 hygiene kits were distributed across Kavrepalanchok.
-
Women and girls with disabilities gained a space to openly discuss their health, rights, and experiences.
-
Local governments were engaged on more inclusive and disability-friendly menstrual health services.
-
The program helped bring the voices and needs of women with disabilities into local menstrual health discussions.
