Reaching Across Humla: 141 Women and Girls Reached

Training on Menstrual health hygiene at HUmla

In Humla, Conscious Connections Nepal (CCN) partnered with Nepal Austria Partnership Organization (NAPO) to promote inclusive menstrual health management across all eight wards of Simikot Rural Municipality. The program combined menstrual health training, reusable pad-making, radio discussions, and local advocacy to reach women and girls in remote mountain communities.

Challenges:

In Humla, limited access to menstrual health information and hygiene products, along with stigma and silence around menstruation, can make it difficult for women and girls to openly discuss and manage their periods.

Our Action:

CCN conducted 8 menstrual health orientation and reusable pad-making trainings across all eight wards. Weekly FM radio programs and women’s radio discussions created wider spaces to talk about menstruation and share local experiences. The program also engaged Rural Municipality representatives to advocate for better menstrual health support and services. A total of 750 hygiene kits were distributed.

The lasting Impact:

  • 141 women and girls gained menstrual health knowledge and reusable pad-making skills.

  • Around 10,000 people were reached through FM radio across Simikot’s eight wards.

  • 750 hygiene kits were distributed in the project area.

  • Women gained a platform to openly share their experiences and concerns around menstruation.

  • Local advocacy brought menstrual health into discussions with Rural Municipality representatives.
